ODE TO MY DAD

Okay so I was driving home from the grocery store tonight and decided to flip on the radio. As I flipped through the stations a wholly remarkable thing happened. Every station I flipped through was playing old songs that I remember from family road trips. They were the songs that we used to be forced to listen to as we drove through the rocky desert going over 70 mph (i.e. there was no option if jumping out of the car). We used to make fun of my dads music as we drove, but tonight as I was listening it brought with it a sense of peace. I remembered falling asleep to the music in the back seat of the car. I remember staring out the window at the stars or more likely the lonely desert. Here I am in this lush green landscape, and the longer I stay here the more I realize how much I miss my home in the desert, and my dad. So dad, thanks for making me listen to your crappy music because now I actually enjoy it and it brings back good memories. (well except the memory of the infamous "HAND") love you dad.
